Good Queen Bess

Betcha never thought you’d witness this: Lovehoney, the UK’s biggest sex brand, has been given royal approval with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Meaning? Lovehoney will be able to continue using Her Majesty’s emblem in advertising, marketing and packaging for the next 5 years. Plus they get to fly her flag too. And here’s the best part of all, this is not the first time this company is being singled out as an exemplary company. Lovehoney first won the award back in 2016. And here we were, thinking the Good Queen Bess would be pulling a Victoria, going into seclusion and mourning the loss of Prince Phillip. Boy oh boy, did we every get that wrong. The Queen, who just turned 95 this past April, continues to amaze! May her record-breaking reign continue long into the future.

A Pick Me Upper

Besides scoring some OOOOs and Ahhhhs, nothing picks a Master Baker up, quite like a feel good story where someone, though sheer hard work and grit, is able to turn dreams into reality. As Wendy Stokes, from The Frisky, aptly points out, every great dream, begins with a dreamer.” So to celebrate Earth Day, lets take a cue from Zhaoyang Wang, and try imaging a better world where there is no violence, no racism or bigotry and instead, there is opportunity for all, less pollution, corruption and exploitation have been eliminated and pandemics are a thing of the past. And while you’re at it, you might want to consider what you, as an individual, can do to help usher in a better, fairer and more sustainable future.

Save Our Earth

Don’t know who Justin Kimbrough is? Nor did we, until we read this article by The Frisky. This young, serial entrepreneur has already racked up some impressive bona fides, but his latest venture – a fragrance- and alcohol-free hand sanitizer, together a project called with Save Our Earth, is committed to planting 3 trees for each bottle purchased. Removing trash from our oceans and turning landfills into sustainable energy sources using solar ponds is another project he is working on. What differentiates Kimbrough and his projects from his peers is the fact that he is seeking to be a solution rather than a part of the problem. Kudos to him and his labors of love.

A Sex Ed Make Over

Here’s some good news for a change. The folks at Rebellious have posted an article that describes the efforts in Illinois to overhaul their sex ed program. Kudos for them and their efforts to develop programs that encourage sexual positive practices. Let’s hope that this program and other likes it become the norm, rather than the exception. Kudos to Rebellious for their article and a thumbs up for the State of Illinois.

What’s in a Name?

A lot. Everything we hold dear. It is used for identification; it shapes our identity; and if it is well-chosen, it gives us some idea (not always) of what you are all about and/or where it is coming from. And when it comes to sex bloggers, you can rest assured that they have chosen some of the most creative names you’ll ever find on the internet, bar none. The next time you click to read an article, we do hope you pay attention to the name and if there are some you particularly like, be sure to let them know. BTW, we are delighted to post this link to Liz BlackX and her explanation of how she came up with her name. Enjoy!

The Badass Women of History

Rebellious has posted an article – featuring the woman-owned Chicago Detours – that proves that Past is Present when it comes to celebrating the achievements of badass women. Take your pick. From Ida B. Wells to Michelle Obama, Jane Addams to Jennifer Weiss, Chicago has had it’s share of female leaders who know how to kick butt. If you are still sheltering in place and have nothing better to do, fire up your Zoom and discover the accomplishments of some outstanding women who have forged the way and inspire today’s women to take up the mantle and continue the fight.

Hiding in Plain Sight

A Leap of Faith is participating in the February Photo Fest and instead of featuring the normal fare, viz., butts and boobs, she is photographing sex toys in the wild. The theme she has chosen pertains to “toys hiding in plain sight” and from what we can tell, she nails it with her glass dildo nicely ensconced in a muddy English garden full of hibernating plants. Well done. Kudos.

Afraid of Being Outted

. . . if you buy a book or a sex toy on Amazon and you want to write a raving review but you’re hesitant to do so because you might reveal something about yourself, say a maniacal obsession with clit lit, that no one need know, save you and your maker. Fear no more. The Domme Chronicles has posted a short article on how to submit anonymous reviews. Kudos to Sharyn Ferns and be sure to check out and (if applicable) review her books.

Zoom Oops

In the spirit of schadenfreude, it’s this kind of screw up* (regretfully) that makes the news, especially when it happens to an august institution like the BBC. It shows that at the end of the day, we are human, warts ‘n all.

*We’re assuming someone slipped up. If not, and it was a deliberate attention-getter, we stand corrected.

Reversing Trumpism, One Stroke at a Time

More indications that the new Biden Administration is losing no time in replacing some of the disastrous clusterf*cks – that’s an understatement – Trump signed into law, starting with the lifting of the Muslim travel ban. In addition, Biden is expected to repeal the transgender military ban – about g-d time – followed by a new rule that will protect transgender students’ rights to use a bathroom that best aligns with their gender identity. The rule changes underscore the belief that America’s strength lies in it’s diversity. Hear. Hear. What a refreshing change from 4 years of a MAGAT-infested do-nothing grand-old-party of poopers-and-dupers who maintain power through voter suppression, gerrymandering and self-dealing.
